Injuries, Accidents, and the Emergency Room

Children with ADHD can be more accident-prone than children without ADHD. It is not uncommon among children with ADHD to be taken to the emergency room (ER) quite frequently. To deal with this, you should have an emergency plan:

  • When possible, take only the injured child to the ER, as having to keep track of more than one active child in that setting can be difficult.
  • Find out which is the most child-friendly ER in your neighborhood.
  • Make sure your child's teacher(s) and school nurse have your emergency contact information and a copy of your child's medical history and medications.
