Is There Help for ADHD?

Treatment begins with awareness.
Although ADHD is currently the most commonly diagnosed childhood behavioral disorder (affecting an estimated three to five percent of children), ADHD is far more common among adults than people generally recognize. It is believed that more than eight million adults have the disorder and the vast majority have not been diagnosed.

Treatment options.
Thankfully, ADHD is very treatable. Core symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity respond well to medication. Current treatment methods focus on management of symptoms through the following approaches:

  • Medication
  • Behavior modification therapy (including coaching and talk therapy)
  • Combination therapy (medication and behavior modification therapy)
