ADHD in the Classroom

The beginning of a school year can be a stressful time for all concerned - student(s), teacher(s), and parent(s) alike. For students with learning disabilities associated with ADHD the academic environment is especially challenging. Consequently, parents of a child with ADHD are usually advised to let their child's teacher(s) know in advance that their son or daughter has ADHD, and, if their child has attended school in the previous year, to provide teachers with a list of prior classroom accommodations that proved effective.

The resource guide from the U.S. Department of Education provides information on the identification of ADHD, as well as the educational services available. It is designed for educators and parents, and can be found at: http://www.ed.gov/teachers
