What are your life goals? What would you like to achieve today? Tomorrow? In the future? For adults living with ADHD, reaching specific goals and objectives can be especially challenging. Some adults with ADHD have turned to "coaching" for help. ADHD coaching addresses the daily challenges of living with ADHD head-on. A coach works with an adult with ADHD to help them carry out the routine activities of daily life in an organized, goal-oriented, and timely fashion. A coach's close partnership with an adult with ADHD, helps the adult learn practical skills to initiate change in his or her daily life. A coach may encourage specific behavior during their work with an adult who has ADHD:
Although there is no published research that evaluates the effectiveness of coaching on adults with ADHD, anecdotal evidence shows that there may be some benefit. Remember, it's important that a coach work collaboratively with the other members of your healthcare team. Coaching can be especially effective when combined with traditional treatments for ADHD such as medication and psychological therapy. |
